NCMLS Graduate School offers the chance for you to visit the NCMLS to get a first-hand impression of molecular life sciences research in Nijmegen. The NCMLS Graduate School will reimburse travel and accommodation expenses.

Short-listed candidates will be invited to the NCMLS for a 2 ½ day program allowing participants to visit departments of their choice, to engage in one-to-one discussions with group leaders and group members, as well as participate in organized lab tours. Candidates will be interviewed by a selection jury and will be expected to give a 10 minute presentation to two departments of their choice.

Application and selection procedure

Applicants will be assessed on the basis of the quality of their application including two letters of recommendation and a short letter of motivation. Selected applicants will be informed on or before July 16th.

Applicants must hold a master’s degree or equivalent from a university in the domains of molecular life science or molecular medicine. It is not compulsory to have your degree at time of application but you should expect to have your degree within 6 months of the interview dates.

The application form requires the following information:

  • Select which pricipal investigator groups you are interested in visiting. A maximum of 5 can be selected. Pricipal investigator profiles can be seen via www.ncmls.eu under the relevant theme titles.
  • A full CV including grades obtained to date. Evidence of grades should be included in your CV document as scanned images
  • Motivation letter to study in NCMLS. This brief letter should, in little more than half page A4, clearly describe your specific research interests in relation to NCMLS research themes, portray why you would like to continue your training at NCMLS and highlight skills/qualifications/past experience of relevance to a PhD position at NCMLS. 
  • Two signed referee letters in support of application.
