Remarks / more information:

Dr. Gerwin Huls is applying for a UMC St. Radboud tenure-track fellowship position and will present his past and current work on the impact ageing on leukemia/leukemic stem cells. In addition he will present his fellowship proposal. The first aim of his proposal is to establish a myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) mouse model based on Wnt signaling, particularly the various isoforms of the transcription factor Tcf7. The second aim of his proposal is to determine the expression of the various isoforms of TCF7 in samples of MDS and AML patients and to correlate the expression of these isoforms with mutations in the splicing machinery. This will enable elucidation of whether the frequently observed mutations in the splicing machinery exert their oncogenic effects by distorted splicing of TCF7.
