Elective Components
During the PhD project, PhD students follow a tailor-made programme - 14 EC points can be obtained by choosing for a variety of elective elements. These can be either teaching elements or scientific training elements:
Teaching elements
- Supervision of an undergraduate student (1 EC/3 months)
- Oral presentation during an official symposium, Graduate Course or Spotlight meeting (0,5 EC/presentation)
- Poster presentation during an official symposium, or Two-Day PhD Retreat (0,25 EC/presentation)Assistance of practicals for students (0.25 EC/day)
- Organisation of technical forum (1 EC/forum)
- Participation in the PhD committee (1 EC/year)
Scientific elements
- Attendance of symposia (0.25 EC/day)
- Attendance of courses by official organisations (0.25 EC/day)
- Review of scientific publication (0.2 EC/paper)

- Post-academic education by RUNMC (PAO Heyendaal)
- Overview of courses organised by other institutes

If the elective component of your choice is not listed in the programme guide, please ask for permission to use it as an elective component by sending an e-mail to M. Achour. Include all relevant information such as the web-address or brochure and duration of the activity.
