The Nijmegen Centre for Molecular Life Sciences (NCMLS) is a leading multidisciplinary European research institute within the domain of Molecular Mechanisms of Disease and particularly in the fields of molecular medicine, cell biology and translational research. The NCMLS provides the setting for research groups from the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre and the Radboud University Nijmegen. Research careers are focused along three main research themes. The NCMLS invests considerable effort in the selection of talented and ambitious new colleagues. A major goal of the NCMLS is the translation of basic
knowledge generated from biomedical research into clinical application,
in the development of diagnostics and innovation in the treatment of disease.
The multi-disciplinary approach to research in molecular life science
is also reflected in an established graduate school with dedicated international
MSc and PhD
programmes, in addition the furthering innovation through Technology
Platforms. The NCMLS further investments in these themes are based
on Strategic Target Areas of Research (STAR). These are: (a) Bionanoscience,
(b) Tissue engineering, (c) Medical systems biology and (d) Molecular
imaging.
